Creating a wifi hotspot with your 3G/wifi enabled cell phone seems to be a developing trend. TapRoot Systems this week introduced its walkinghotspot application. You probably are aware of a similar application, JoikuSpot, which has been on the seen for a while. Both applications allow you to connect other wifi enabled devices through your phones 3G internet connection. This will allow you to easily share your connection with your friends, if you want to.

What are the differences? JoikuSpot only supports Symbian s60 phones, while walkinghotspot will support both s60 and windows mobile devices. TapRoots plan is to sell its software directly to the carriers, so usage charges can probably be expected. JoikuSpot is available now as a free download.
